Jacqui BoulleChairpersonJacqui is an urban development, poverty and management specialist with sector based experience in local economic development, public works and housing programmes. She has worked extensively in the NGO and public sectors, in South Africa and Indonesia, of which the last 15 years have been in a management or advisory capacity. She has been involved in policy development, project initiation and design, implementation management, designing and setting up management systems, evaluations and management support. Jacqui holds a MBA from University of Cape Town. |
Wilhelmina TroutVice ChairpersonWilhelmina Trout comes from a rich background in unionisation and labour law. She has been instrumental in the formation of various South African trade unions and has worked with several labour federations throughout Southern Africa. She holds a plethora of qualifications to her name achieved both locally and abroad including a Bachelor's degree in Adult Education. Wilhelmina has worked in various fields including gender equality, sexual harassment education, trade union leadership skills and arbitration skills. Having also worked with the ILO, in particular being project coordinator on the ILO/Swiss project during 2000 and 2001, Wilhelmina has had a great influence in the ground works for labour law through Southern Africa. ...Return to top |
Ralph FreeseTreasurerRalph Freese was born on the Cape Flats, educated by diverse teachers and experiences and now serves on boards of both developmental non-governmental organizations (the arts, housing & financial) and businesses (technology, leisure & wine) The NGO arts Boards on which he serves include Jazzart Dance Theatre (Finance), Nobel Square Technical Committee, Spier Arts Trust (Chair) and The South African Academy of Performing Arts (Finance). Other NGO’s include the Development Action Group (Chair) and The Kuyasa Fund. He has quasi – executive roles at Spier Leisure Holdings (Pty) Ltd (Chair). ...Return to top |
Alistair RendallBoard MemberAlistair is an architect, urban designer and city planner by trade. His past work experiences include time with ASAG - India, Urban Foundation, Development Action Group, Mammon Rendall, and ARG Design. His professional qualifications include both a Bachelor of Architecture along with a Master of City Planning and Urban Design from the University of Cape Town. Bulelwa Makalima-NgewanaBoard MemberMrs Bulelwa Ngewana is the Managing Director of the Cape Town Partnership (CTP) and has served in this position since 2004. Prior to joining the CTP, Mrs Ngewana was the Senior Manager for Africa Programs at the Centre for conflict Resolution, where she was instrumental at establishing and implementing conflict resolution and mediation programs in various African countries.Mrs Ngewana is the Chair of the Cape Town Grail board and also sits on the board of Cape Town Heritage Trust and CTP. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree for the University of Fort Hare and Masters in Town and Regional Planning for the University of Natal. ...Return to top |
William FraterBoard MemberWilliam studied history and economics at the University of Cape Town, and proceeded to Cambridge to read an M.Phil in International Relations. Following his return from Cambridge in 1992, William worked as a freelance journalist. Following this he spent a period investigating retail and distribution trends in South African townships. In 1995, William started working for the Foundation for Contemporary Research, where he worked on transport and local economic development policy issues. In 1998, William was one of the co-founders of Frater Asset Management, a Cape Town based asset management company. After training as an analyst, William established the engagement unit at Frater Asset Management, which has become a leader in this field as well as other areas of socially responsible investment. In May 2007, William resigned from Frater Asset Management after working there for nine years to commence a PhD in law. The focus of his studies will be on Director Responsibility and corporate governance in terms of the newly drafted Companies Bill. Most importantly, William is a highly committed South African who has chosen to actively participate in the building of a sustainable future. ...Return to top |
Olivia van RooyenBoard MemberOlivia has been the Director of the Kuyasa Fund since its inception in 2000, having begun her career in the trade union movement. Prior to that, she worked in community development in various capacities, most notably with the Development Action Group (DAG). As a Project Manager with DAG, she specialized in end-user finance and savings mobilization which eventually led to the creation of the Kuyasa Fund. Olivia has obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from UNISA along with a BAA (Honors) and a MBA both from the Univeristy of Stellenbosch. ...Return to top |
Karl WestvigBoard MemberKarl Westvig was previously the CEO and Founder of the RCS Group, which provides direct personal loans, private label cards, home loans and a general purpose cards to the broader South African consumer. Since leaving RCS Group in December 2008, he is actively involved in new ventures and has joined the Board of The Kuyasa Fund as well as being a Board member of RCS Group. Karl holds a Bachelor of Business Science degree with Honours in Statistics and Operations Research from UCT. ...Return to top |
